The intellectually challenged/intellectually disabled/mentally challenged/mentally disabled/mentally retarded...whatever they may be called, are just like you and I. They feel pain, joy and a huge need to be appreciated. They are sensitive, kind and extremely capable given an opportunity. However, because of their manner and intellectual limitation they are often disregarded and disrespected within their homes and society. They are no less privileged than we are and it is our duty as responsible individuals to treat them with dignity and respect.
